I currently work in the tiny industry of pleasure products. In the past, I have worked in the emergency room so when people in the pleasure product industry start taking themselves too seriously I remind myself (and sometimes them) that we sell sex toys. We sell pleasure. This should be fun! We can be kind, thoughtful and decent. Unlike in the emergency room, no one is going die and our problems are small.
On a good day, we can inspire people to find more joy in their lives and bodies. Our work best serves the world when we drop our egos, get real, and tune in to the individuals who buy our products. Consumers are king. We are nothing without them.
It was about a decade ago that I met the SheVibe team and for the first time felt like I had found people who truly understand what I have been saying all these years. Simply put, they are nice people who have found a way to bring more joy into the world through sex toys. They are super creative and geeky. I have spent a lot of time (and yet not enough time) eating good food with them, having long conversations, digging deep into our collective curiosities, and just enjoying them as people.
When cancer sideswiped me a few months ago they were right there with me. Sending care packages full of cute socks, self-care items, and comfort foods.
That said, I’d like to publically say THANK YOU. I encourage anyone looking for a place to buy sex toys to check them out. The team at SheVibe really listens to their customers. They are wholeheartedly free of judgment and preconceived notions about the people who visit their site. They are good in their hearts and I am lucky to call them friends.
